This really is a life long investment and will equip you to be safe in mind as well as give you the skills to react to an avalanche. Based on the theory that using the kit is the last resort, this course will help you “think” how you can act to best avoid triggering avalanches and putting yourself in danger when you are in a glacier zone.
This specific training course is designed to have a better understanding of the many risks presented in the mountain and glacier environment as well as learning the use of mountain safety equipment (transceiver, shovel, probe, ropes).
Available to both skiers and boarders.
As well as thoroughly enjoyable this is an investment too!
During this day course, you will learn to recognize the different snowpacks and evaluate the potential risks on a glacier and on the mountain.
You will learn how to use the basic safety equipment needed for glacier terrain such as crampons, ropes, ice axe, harnesses and essential equipment to do a Z-Pulley System (a lifting system based on gear strength to lift someone out of a crevasse).
The program for this day includes: learn the avalanche beacon search, organize a rescue operation, recognize potential snowpack risks and evaluate risks when skiing on glaciers.
